The problem

An alarm nobody responds to is just noise

A bell ringing at 3am rarely stops a break-in. These are the gaps we find most often:

1

No monitoring, so nobody knows the alarm has gone off.

2

No police URN, so there’s no police response.

3

No NSI certificate, so the insurer asks questions.

Police response

Get police response with a URN

A police URN (Unique Reference Number) is how your local force knows your alarm is genuine and worth attending.

1. We install to standard

A confirmed alarm system designed to BS 8243, installed and certified by us as an NSI approved company.

2. EMCS monitors it

Alarms go to a recognised Alarm Receiving Centre, which checks the alarm is confirmed.

3. We apply for your URN

The police force issues the URN, so confirmed alarms get a police response.

Repeated false alarms can lead to the police withdrawing a URN, which is why the design and maintenance matter.

Security fog filling a shop within seconds of an alarm
Smoke cloak

They can’t steal what they can’t see

A smoke cloak, or security fog system, is linked to your alarm. When it triggers, it fills the room with dense fog in seconds.

  • Intruders can’t see stock, displays or the way around the room
  • The fog is harmless, and manufacturers state it leaves no residue
  • Can be set off by the alarm or a panic button
  • Ideal for jewellers, retail and cash areas

Four-building site
“Highly recommend SAFE Fire & Security Systems. We brought them in to manage a complex, four-building site, and the transition has been flawless. The management and office team (Adam, Martin, Donna) are responsive and great to deal with, while the engineers on the ground deliver top-level craftsmanship. What really stands out is their rock-solid knowledge of the newer BS 5839-1:2025 regulations—they don't cut corners and they know exactly what they are doing. A thoroughly professional outfit that is a pleasure to work with”

Former bank, Halesowen
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank and highly recommend the team at Safe Fire and Security Systems. I am a property manager for commercial and residential spaces in Halesowen, West Midlands and recently entrusted Safe with the fire and security systems in a property that was previously a commercial bank. As my main point of contact Martin was outstanding from day one. Everything regarding the project was explained to me clearly and the work was undertaken promptly and professionally at all times - nothing appeared to be too much trouble. The various engineers that worked on the project were also friendly and professional - a credit to the company. I can not recommend Safe Fire and Security Systems enough and I will not hesitate to use them on the next project that requires any of the services that they offer.”

FAQs

Intruder alarm questions

What is a police URN?
A Unique Reference Number issued by your local police force. With one, confirmed alarms from your monitored system can get a police response. The system must be installed and certified by an approved company like SAFE, monitored by a recognised Alarm Receiving Centre, and meet the national police policy. Too many false alarms can lead to the URN being withdrawn, so a well-designed system matters.
Who monitors my alarm?
EMCS, our monitoring partner. EMCS is an independent Alarm Receiving Centre in Nottingham, NSI Gold approved for intruder monitoring and accredited to EN 50518. It is staffed by trained operators.
What is a smoke cloak?
A security fog unit linked to your alarm. When it triggers, it fills the room with dense, harmless fog in seconds, so an intruder can’t see what to take. It’s used by jewellers, shops and anywhere cash or high-value stock is kept.
Will my insurer accept the system?
As an NSI approved company, we issue an NSI certificate of compliance for systems we install. Insurers recognise these certificates. Check your policy’s specific requirements with your insurer or broker.
Can you take over an existing intruder alarm?
Yes. We start with a free site survey and tell you plainly where the system stands.
Which areas do you cover?
Birmingham, the Black Country, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire, from our base in Halesowen. Local pages: intruder alarm installation in Halesowen and intruder alarm installation in Dudley.
